The bellissima Italian city of Palermo is the capital of the autonomous region of Sicily. It has a vast artistic and architectural heritage; from Punic remains, narrow streets and Art Nouveau style houses to Arabic style residences, Baroque churches and Neoclassical theatres.
This beautiful city is home to the enormous Massimo Theatre, the largest opera theatre in Italy and the third largest in Europe. It is dedicated to King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy and is built in the Neoclassical style. This iconic building is famous for its operatic performances, as well as for being the location chosen for the final scenes of “The Godfather Part III”, by director Francis Ford Coppola.
Alongside our distributor, we had the opportunity to select the Ezpeleta furniture that would best suit the Neoclassical style of this unique space. The ROD chair was chosen to furnish the Terrace at the Massimo Theatre and add even more elegance and tranquillity.
Our ROD chair, with its modern and clean style, was placed in this outdoor area to contrast with the theatre's classic architecture. A contrast that adds vibrancy and life to this traditional and historic setting. In this sense, a fairytale landscape is created in which people can enjoy a pleasant time, thanks to comfortable yet beautiful furniture.
To avoid breaking with the visual consistency of the Massimo Theatre and the city of Palermo in general, the ROD chair was chosen in anthracite tones, thereby achieving a more understated and elegant effect. This created an idyllic picture postcard setting in which the theatre’s earthy and warm tones pair perfectly with the colours of the furniture.
